General Requirements

A GPON system is required operating on a split fiber infrastructure. The purpose is to provide an ONT in single-dwelling units (FTTO/FTTS model). Such infrastructure is planned to transport voice (VoIP), video (IPTV or CATV) and high-speed Internet traffic.

The following graphic shows the reference model that is used in this document.

Optical Line Terminal (OLT) Specifications
- The access network required should be ensuring the present and future    bandwidth requirements
- It should be able to cater to multiple classes of subscribers
- OEM must have presence in INDIA.


- An OLT Shall consists but not limited to the following :
- Management Module – the control module shall interface with the operation of other modules in the OLT, and also with all subtended ONTs.
- OLT should serve as central point for management of the system.
- OLT should have in built uplink port on the controller card - 4 * 1 GE SFP based module use either as electrical or optical

Switch Module
- The switch module should aggregate all access subscriber traffic onto a Gigabit Ethernet links or 10-Gigabit Ethernet links connecting with the NGN backbone. The    proposed equipment should support E1 and STM-1 interfaces by Native TDM mode if required.
- Contractor shall explain the detail mechanism to provide the native TDM function on the proposed equipment if applicable.

The proposed equipment shall support upto 16 E1 interfaces per service card.
Contractor shall explain the connector type for any future applications and needs.

The proposed equipment shall support 2 STM-1 interfaces per service card and tendered must explain the mechanism of STM-1 interface protection.

PON Module
- OLT chassis must be able to support GPON, Point to Point modules and with xDSL cards.
- Contractor should submit and explain the architecture in detail.
- The modules must be able to coexist in a single chassis.

The OLT should Support following standards :
- ITU G.984 GPON – The current deployment will be based on GPON for residential subscriber and SMB requiring dedicated bandwidth up to 100 MB or more if it    demands for future services like HDTV , 3DTV and more.
- OLT Mandatory Requirements:
- The OLT solution should provide non-blocking bandwidth path downstream between the transport network and all PONs of the access network.

Chassis : Support modular structure, each module should be hot-swappable and multiple FTTP technologies may be active in the same chassis. And must be ready for future Bandwidth requirement

Single Management Module

Dual Switch Modules

Medium Chassis should Min 48 PON port. And bigger chassis should have Min 128 PON port.

The chassis must contain management interfaces and indicators and power inputs:
- 10/100BASE-T Network Management Interface
- Serial Craft Interface – The serial craft interface on the chassis face-plate should provide access to command line interface to manage the OLT.
- Power A & B LED
- Dual 48 VDC Power Supply Input or AC input
